Original Quality or Compressed PDF?
Original Quality
Original Quality combines your PDF files while preserving their existing pages and document structure whenever possible. This option is suitable when maintaining text quality, graphics, links and document formatting is more important than reducing file size.
Compressed PDF
Compressed mode is designed for users who want a smaller merged PDF for email, messaging, cloud storage or website uploads. Pages may be converted into optimized images, so some selectable text, links or vector elements may not be preserved.
Why Use QuickFileTools PDF Merger?
- Merge multiple PDFs: Combine several PDF documents into one file.
- Reorder files before merging: Arrange your documents in the exact sequence you need.
- Original and compressed output: Choose between maintaining document quality and reducing file size.
- Browser-based processing: Your PDF files are merged in your browser and are not uploaded to QuickFileTools.
- No installation required: Use the PDF merger directly from a modern web browser.
- No account required: You can merge PDFs without creating an account.
When Can You Combine PDF Files?
Combining PDF files is useful whenever information is spread across several documents but needs to be shared or stored as one file. Common examples include:
- Combining invoices and receipts into one PDF
- Merging reports or project documents
- Joining scanned pages into one document
- Combining assignments or study material
- Merging contracts and supporting documents
- Creating one PDF from several presentations or reports
- Combining application documents before submitting them online
Does Merging PDFs Reduce Quality?
With Original Quality selected, QuickFileTools combines the existing PDF pages without intentionally lowering their visual quality.
If you choose Compressed, the tool attempts to create a smaller document. Compression can reduce image quality and may convert page content into images. Choose Original Quality when document fidelity is the priority and Compressed when file size is more important.
Private Browser-Based PDF Merging
The current QuickFileTools Merge PDF tool processes selected documents locally in your browser. Your files do not need to be sent to a QuickFileTools processing server in order to perform the merge.
Because processing happens on your device, performance can depend on the number of pages, PDF file size, available memory and the browser or device you are using.
How the QuickFileTools PDF Merger Works
In Original Quality mode, QuickFileTools reads the selected PDF documents and copies their pages into a new combined PDF in the order chosen by the user.
In Compressed mode, pages can be rendered and recompressed to reduce file size. Because these two methods work differently, the final file size and document characteristics can vary depending on the PDFs you provide.
Frequently Asked Questions About Merging PDFs
How do I merge multiple PDF files into one?
Select two or more PDF files, arrange them in your preferred order, choose Original Quality or Compressed, click Merge PDFs, and then download the combined document.
Can I merge PDF files online for free?
Yes. QuickFileTools lets you combine multiple PDF files using the browser-based Merge PDF tool without requiring an account.
Can I change the order of PDFs before merging?
Yes. You can drag PDF files into a different position or use the up and down controls before starting the merge.
Why is my merged PDF larger than the original files?
PDF file size can increase when documents are rebuilt because PDFs may contain different fonts, images, embedded resources and internal compression methods. If the merged file is too large, you can try the Compressed option.
What is the difference between Original Quality and Compressed?
Original Quality is intended to preserve the existing PDF content and formatting. Compressed mode prioritizes a smaller output file and may reduce image quality or convert page content into images.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The Merge PDF tool performs all merging operations locally in your browser on your device. Your PDF files are never uploaded to any server.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Password-protected or encrypted PDFs may not be readable by the current browser-based merger. Remove the password using an authorized method before attempting to merge the document.
How many PDF files can I merge?
The practical limit depends on your device memory, browser and the size and complexity of the PDF files. Very large documents may take longer to process.
Does the PDF merger work on mobile devices?
The tool is designed to work in modern desktop and mobile browsers. Large PDF files may process faster on devices with more available memory.
Guides for this tool
Check it yourself: your file is not uploaded
- Choose your file on this page.
- Turn off Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Run the tool. It still finishes and saves the result, because all the work happens in your browser.
On a computer you can also open the browser's developer tools (F12), choose the Network tab and watch: no request carries your file.
