How to Compress Images
- Select or drop up to 5 JPG, PNG or WebP images above.
- Keep Recommended (75%), choose Strong (55%), or set a Custom quality.
- Select Compress Images.
- Download each image or download all together as a ZIP. If an image is already optimized, your original file is kept.
How Does Image Compression Work?
Compression reduces image file size by optimizing picture data while maintaining natural dimensions. QuickFileTools offers three levels: Recommended (quality 75%) gives a great balance between size reduction and clarity. Strong (quality 55%) applies stronger compression for the smallest file size. Custom lets you pick any quality level from 20% to 100%.
The tool never returns a file larger than your input. If compression cannot save at least 1%, the tool tries once more at lower quality. If it is still not smaller, your original file is kept byte for byte so your download is never larger than what you uploaded.
Photo and signature sizes for online forms
Many online application forms ask for a photo of about 20 to 50 KB and a signature of about 10 to 20 KB. Choose Target size, pick or type the limit, and every image comes out at or under it.
Forms differ, so check the exact size and dimensions in your form's official notification before you upload. To change the width and height in pixels as well, use the Image Resizer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I compress multiple images at once?
Yes. You can select or drop up to 5 images at a time (JPG, PNG or WebP) and download them individually or as a single ZIP archive.
Will compression ever make my files bigger?
No. If re-encoding an image would result in a larger file or save less than 1%, the tool keeps your original file byte for byte. You will never receive a bigger file.
What happens to transparent PNG images?
Transparent PNG images are compressed to WebP when supported by your browser to preserve transparency without turning backgrounds solid white. Opaque PNGs are saved as JPG for maximum size savings.
Are my images uploaded to any server?
No. All processing happens entirely inside your web browser on your own computer or phone. Your files are never uploaded or stored anywhere.
Guides for this tool
Check it yourself: your file is not uploaded
- Choose your file on this page.
- Turn off Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Run the tool. It still finishes and saves the result, because all the work happens in your browser.
On a computer you can also open the browser's developer tools (F12), choose the Network tab and watch: no request carries your file.
